II – DADRA AND NAGAR HAVELI CAPTURED BY THE PORTUGUESE

1783 72 villages which now constitute Dadra and Nagar Haveli gifted to the Portuguese by the Marathas
1887 Daman erected as a diocese
1889 Church of Silvassa constructed
ca. 1905 First tribal Christians just outside Silvassa
1928 Diocese of Daman suppressed
ca 1928 Franciscan Borivili brothers come to the tribal areas of Nagar Haveli around Kudacha and Masat
ca 1931 Goan Diocesan priests begin work in the tribal area
1932 Priests reside in Dapada
1935 A Missio sui juris is erected in the name of Mission of St. Francis Xavier, Dapadda for the whole of Nagar Haveli except Silvassa
1936 Mission of Khanwel is founded. Franciscan Hospitallers of the Immaculate Conception come to Khanwel
1936 Approaches are made in Chisda and Sindoni by the Borivali brothers

III — THE SOCIETY OF PILAR COMES TO THE MISSION OF DAMAN

1940 Missionaries of the Society of St. Francis Xavier, also called the Society of Pilar enter Nagar Haveli
1943 The Headquarters of the Mission of St. Francis Xavier is moved from Dapadda to Khanwel
1950 Pilar Fathers come to  Dudhni at Isnipada
1953 Last Diocesan Priests leave Nagar Haveli
1954 Liberation of Dadra & Nagar Haveli
1956 Khanwel and Dapadda raised to parishes. Silvassa brought under the St. Francis Xavier Mission. Headquarters of the Mission remain in Khanwel.
1961 Liberation of Daman and Diu from the Porutuguese
1965 Mission of Daman is erected as a Deanery of the Archdiocese of Goa Daman. The Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli constitute the Mission of Daman.
1969 Sisters of the Helpers of Mary (SHM) come to work in the Mission of Daman
1986 Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth (SFN) come to work in the Mission of Daman
1990 Revised ‘Despacho’ issued for the Superior of the Mission of Daman
1996 First local priest of Nagar Haveli, Fr. Ramesh Mahale sfx,  ordained at Dudhni
1997 First local sister of Nagar Haveli, Sr. Lucy Bhoye fhic, makes her perpetual profession in Dudhni

1999 Superior of the Mission of Daman is separated from the Regional Superior of the Society of Pilar
2001 Daughters of the Cross (FC) come to Veluganv
2001 Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King come to Dudhni
2002 Dudhni raised to a parish
2003 Pilar Fathers take over from diocesan fathers in Diu
2010 Capuchin Fathers come to Chisda
2011 Salesian Fathers come to Shelti
2012 Diocesan priests take over Chisda from the Capuchins
2013 Pallotine Fathers come to Masat
2014 MSFS Fathers come to the Mission of Daman
2015 Capuchin Fathers take over Shelti from Salesians
2015 Salesian sisters come to the Mission of Daman
